PLOT :
Kundan Shankar, from a Tamil Brahmin family in Varanasi, falls for Zoya, a Muslim girl, as a child. Despite her family’s objections due to religious differences, he helps them and befriends her. Years later, Zoya returns to Varanasi, but she’s in love with someone else. Kundan tries to win her back but fails. When Zoya’s fiancĂ© turns out to be Sikh, not Muslim as she claimed, Kundan exposes the truth. But his revelation leads to tragic consequences: Zoya’s fiancĂ© dies, and Kundan is disowned. Guilt-ridden, Kundan seeks redemption by joining Jasjeet’s political party, aiming to fulfill his vision. Zoya, still angry, plots revenge with the Chief Minister, but Kundan sacrifices himself to expose their wrongdoing. FLIMING :
Filming for the movie faced delays due to various reasons, including A. R. Rahman’s music being initially rejected. It began officially in Varanasi, India, in September 2012, lasting 40 days. Actor Dhanush fell ill during filming, and later injured his shoulder while shooting in October. Dance sequences were postponed and filmed in December. Scenes featuring Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol were shot in Delhi, with some scenes at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication campus. Other locations included Amity International School in Noida, Gurgaon, and Faridabad. The title track was filmed in December, and the final schedule commenced in Delhi in January 20.
