Sennheiser has been impressing us with their true wireless earbuds lately. First, they released the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4, which delivered the best sound quality we’ve ever heard from wireless earbuds but came with a hefty price tag of $500. Then, they introduced the MOMENTUM Sport, which added features like temperature and heart rate monitoring for $550, although the sound quality wasn’t quite as high. Now, we have the more affordable ACCENTUM True Wireless earbuds, aimed at everyday consumers. These are available for $349.95 AUD / $369.95 NZ, making them a direct competitor to the Jabra Elite 10, which costs $379 AUD. We were very impressed with the Jabra Elite 10, so it will be interesting to see how Sennheiser’s similarly priced ACCENTUM earbuds compare.
Design and Fit of SENNHEISER ACCENTUM
The ACCENTUM True Wireless earbuds have a unique design compared to other Sennheiser models. Here’s what you get:
- Small Charging Case: The case is tiny, measuring just 49.45mm x 51.72mm x 28.95mm. Despite its size, it supports Qi wireless charging but has a smaller battery capacity (420mAh) compared to the MOMENTUM TW4 (820mAh). However, the difference in listening time is only two hours.
- Battery Life: With Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) on, the earbuds offer up to six hours of listening time, with an additional 22 hours provided by the charging case. The case also supports fast charging, giving you an extra hour of listening with just 10 minutes of charging.
- Comfortable Fit: The earbuds have a more rectangular shape and come with four sets of ear tips (XS/S/M/L). They are comfortable and stable for activities like walking and light training, though not ideal for intense exercise. They have an IP54 rating, making them splash-resistant.
Features of SENNHEISER ACCENTUM
- Touch Controls: The earbuds have capacitive touch buttons that are very sensitive. You need to be careful when handling them to avoid accidental touches.
- Drivers: Each earbud features a TrueResponse dynamic 7mm driver, the same as in the MOMENTUM TW4, with a similar frequency range.
- Codec Support: The ACCENTUM supports SBC, AAC, aptX, and LC3 codecs, but not aptX Adaptive/Lossless. They use Bluetooth 5.3 instead of the latest 5.4, which doesn’t make a significant difference at this stage
Sound Quality of SENNHEISER ACCENTUM
- Bass: The ACCENTUM delivers punchier and crisper bass compared to the Jabra Elite 10.
- Mids: The mids are clean and precise, with the ACCENTUM having a brighter sound than the Jabra.
- Highs: The Jabra Elite 10 performs well in the high frequencies but lacks the depth and range of the Sennheiser ACCENTUM.
